Frontenac Announces Recapitalization of NutriScience, Inc.

MILFORD, CT

Frontenac, a Chicago-based private equity firm, today announced its partnership with NutriScience, Inc. (“NSI”, or the “Company”), an innovator, developer and marketer of scientifically supported, clinically-validated proprietary ingredients, aligned with the continued evolution of consumer health and wellness. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Milford, CT, NutriScience provides scientifically supported ingredients to help customers develop new concepts, launch products and grow successful brands, with a focus on nutraceutical, functional food and beverage, and pet and animal health markets. Leveraging in-house R&D resources and exclusive manufacturing relationships, NSI provides clinically-validated, branded ingredients that address common functional demands including digestive health, cognitive and emotional wellness, sports performance, metabolic support, and longevity.

“Our investment in NSI reflects the growing demand for branded science-backed, bioactive ingredients that support health and wellness in humans and pets,” said Kenny Kluckman, Principal at Frontenac. “NSI has a strong foundation of new ingredient development capabilities that well position the company to grow alongside this attractive category. We are excited to partner with the NSI team in this new phase of growth.”

Frontenac recapitalized NutriScience as part of a proactive CEO1ST® pursuit focused on the health ingredients category, developed alongside CEO1ST Partners, Paul Kreidler and Gautam Grover. Paul brings more than a decade of leadership experience in specialty ingredients, including prior corporate development and strategy roles at Glanbia and Cargill. Gautam is a seasoned operating executive with a history of building businesses and teams. He has held leadership roles at US Foods, Sensient Technologies, Roland Foods, and most recently, Odeko. Paul will join NSI full-time as VP of Corporate Development & Strategy and Gautam will serve as Executive Chairman.

“Frontenac has a history of investing in ingredients. Our experience in and around this category, combined with the leadership and operating knowledge of our CEO1ST Partners is well aligned to support the future growth of NSI,” said Walter Florence, Managing Partner at Frontenac.

“The NutriScience team and I look forward to working with Frontenac as we continue building a business that addresses the emerging health needs of our customers and executes science to bring new, innovative products to the market that seek to power the next generation of health & wellness brands,” said Alan Yengoyan, President & CEO of NutriScience. “This, along with our deep commitment to our customers, manufacturing partners and employees is what we believe makes NutriScience a truly distinctive place to work and furthers our mission of making man- and animal-kind happier and healthier.”
